Designed and built by 13 year-old paddler Eric Plath, in early 2021 Eric began building canoe paddles for fun and use by his family for a project at Discovery Charter School where he is an 8th grader. Soon after posting pictures of his creations on social media, it became evident that there is a large demand for his hand crafted laminated canoe and SUP paddles.

Many friends in the paddling community encouraged Eric to build a paddle for them too! In March of 2021, Eric formed the Plath Paddle Company located in Westville, IN and began building and selling what can only be described as functional pieces of art. Eric laminates his creations out of the finest of both hard and soft woods to make strong, light, beautiful and efficient paddles. To date, Eric has built almost 40 paddles that have been sold throughout the Midwest, East Coast, and as far away as New Hampshire, Canada, and England.

Quality Materials and Craftsmanship
The wood that I build paddles out of include Ash, Cedar, Sycamore, Kentucky Coffee Tree, Sassafras, Cherry, Tulip Poplar, Maple, Basswood, Mahogany, Walnut, Oak, Hickory and many others. I pick only sustainably harvested wood supplies. I build bent, straight, whitewater, and SUP paddles to your specifications. All paddles are finished with a 4 oz fiberglass cloth with 2 coats of epoxy & around ten coats of spar urethane to finish the paddles to durable and beautiful heirloom quality creations.
